This is quite interesting but unfortunately, the IC 1669 is scarce. Difficult to find in the market. I leave in Nigeria. Please is it possible to find a replacement so I can try this interesting project. Thank you and God bless. |

i dream use binary count up and count down IC (74??? or 40???) to control R2R Ladder Digital to Analog Converter 4 bit which Build from Resistors and Digital Switch 4016 ( internal 4 switch). this only my design not tested yet, so you have volume step 0..15. this is a challenge, go ahead build this.. :) |

I was going to try this circuit but the DS1669 is too expensive over $7 each.
I am going to use the AD5228 at about $1 a pop and see if that works just as well. |

4. Using a dual polariity power supply (+-5V works fine)..
The maximum voltage between 8.pin and 5.pin is 8V! |

Hi There
I am looking for a way to control the "Bride of Zen" pre-amp circuit so the I can replace the potentiometer at the end with a digital potentiometer or something similar. I would eventually want to control the volume via a microprocessor.
Any ideas what I can do here. The voltage swing over the pot is 20V, and I find it hard to find digital pots that provide higher voltage support.
Regards

This project doesn't work because the IC is not biased correctly. The variable resistance must be DC biased at about half the supply voltage. It is easist to do if it has a positive and negative supply, then the resistance can have its low terminal connected to 0V.
Its max allowed total supply voltage is 8V.
It has linear steps, not logarithmic so it makes a poor volume control. It is good as a linear tone control. Stereo logarithmic digital volume control ICs are available. |

I'm really fascinated with the circuit diagram, but I'm not finding the specified IC. Would you please let me know if there is any other alternative to it or another circuit diagram for volume control? I may also need a digital equalizer circuit diagram that would accompany the circuit. Thanks: I appreciate your works and projects. |

I do like this project.
So i will like to build it.
But the problem is that how it work.
Eg do i have to get a volume control attach to the input?
The resistance of the IC either 100k,50k or less.
Any way can i use equivalent one.

Once built a circuit from a banabi book that increased the audio signal when passages of music were quiet and decreased them when they were loud - I think it was called an audio limiter or compander and was for stereo signal processing and built around one chip and required few componants - a resister controlled how course the effect was .
Have you come across this diagram could you email me a copy please !
