8 Watt Audio Amp |
Wednesday, September 02, 2015 1:32:57 AM |
The above circuit will NOT work as is, due to several reasons: 1.) Biasing resistors missing (Add a 20K ohm from +12V to pin 3, and another one from pin 3 to ground - value NOT super critical. 2.) C2 should really be connected in series with R1 (rather than as shown). 3.) Will NOT get 8 watts out of this design. Even if the signal swings rail-to-rail, the most you can get is 2.25 watts (calculations based on a sine-wave audio signal). |

i assembled that LM383 8WATTS power amplifier it's a heavy duty and excellent amplifier. in cebu we used audio booster for more power output of that lm383 power amplifier.also connect a tone control bass/treble circuit for best results. |

very wrong pin configuration. according to the datasheet of the said IC pin-5 is the output but on the schematic diagram pin-8 is the output & pin1 and pin2 is the non inverted and inverted input. please correct the diagram. |

The circuit diagram clearly shows 'R3' and the text refers to 'R3', yet there are only 2 resistors in the component list. (The component list appears to be correct in this).

LM383 datasheet found at national.com
Condenser mic's are microphones that convert mechanical vibration to electrical signals via vibrating charged parallel plates (condenser -> capacitor). The mic needs biasing because the plates have to have a charge maintained for the thing to function. |

This IC is obsolete and has not been made for 12 years.
The pins numbers on the schematic are completely wrong.
The schematic is missing important parts.
Make the circuit on the datasheet of the TDA2003 instead. It is available, shows all the parts and even shows a pcb design. |

Very useful little circuit, built it out of spare parts in just a few minutes. I'm listening to it right now. Not really hi-fi, but with standard components its more than good enough for something like a table radio, car amplifier, or PC speaker system. It has more than enough juice to power most full range speakers, and only takes up about two square inches of board space. It works best with 4Ù speakers, but is capable of driving 8Ùs as well.
I STRONGLY recommend against building this without adding an 0.22 µF capacitor and 1Ù resistor in series from the input of C4 to ground (See LM383's datasheet), failing to do so will send the circuit into a potentially destructive oscillation. Also, be sure to check the datasheet (http://www.datasheetcatalog.com/) for your specific manufacturer and model of IC, the pinout may be different depending on the chip's manufacturer. The current production version of LM383 is NTE's NTE1232 IC, which will also work well in this circuit. |

Built this circuit for a parabolic amplifier. Few errors in the schematic. Had to tweak it a little for headphones instead of speaker. I used 1M ohm for R3 although it might need to be altered for use with a speaker. (R3 should be listed)
rheostat or potentiometer for volume control.
Overall it's not a bad circuit. Cheap and effective.
I used it with the parabolic dish to listen to my neighbors talking last night. Boy was that FUN! |
