Hi,

First off a big thanks to Aaron for all the great resources here.

I live in the boonies and want to use an actuator from an old C-Band satellite dish to open and close my front gate.

I have three AGM 12v 7A batteries and 3 12v solar trickle chargers. I was planning to series them up and someone suggested parallel and a voltage booster. I like that idea better as there are issues with the series approach.

I just tested the actuator with a 12v battery. I tried to stall it and the highest load I got was a little under 6A at 12v. So, I am guessing something capable of 10A at 36v would be more than enough.

Can anyone point me at some schematics for low cost 12v - 36v.

Thanks

Dave
