ok you cant directly plug your 12v to 120/240 because it will burn it up. what you can do is buy or make a adapter that will step down the voltage to 12v and regulate it to DC. something like this http://www.shopaddonics.com/itemdesc.asp?ic=AAPAC12V-US or if u want to make here is the schematic and discription http://www.allaboutcircuits.com/worksheets/supply1.html

The easiest approach would be to use a 12V wall adapter with the appropriate current ratings. You can buy them cheaply at surplus stores.

Failing that, all you need is a 12V transformer and a rectifier. Motors don't particularly care how clean the supply is to them, so you don't need to bother filtering and regulating it.

I think i can answer that. what i would use is a 3or more amp transformer and a bridge rectifier rated at 300v 4amps. hope this helps

Darkthero,

The voltage rating of your rectifier is far higher than necessary.

The rectifier is on the 12V side of the transformer so 25V or 50V rating is fine.

Yeah, transformers don't work too well on DC.

If it is a universal type motor, it will also work on 12V AC, for what it's worth.
