The display of my car audio (radio and CD & MP3 Player) recently became very dim that I can hardly see. (I mean the "letters/characters" of the radio channel and song). Can somebody please give me some advice on how to fix the problem? I bought it about 2 years ago. The brand name is Dynex and is not a famous one.
some displays have incadescent lamp behind them to brighten the display. These bulbs go busted also. You will have to open the front panel to check them.
Might sound stupid but have u checked ur cars dimmer switch most of the time the person who install it connects all the wires not that thats wrong if that was the problem remove the radio and cut or disconnect the orange wire
quote: Probably a bad solder joint at the display. Resolder all the pins.
Thank you for your suggestion. I also guess so. I tried to resolder all the pins except those from the CPU/IC. The problem still exists. The pins from the CPU/IC are too tiny that my soldering iron cannot do that. I believe it need a hot air gun which I don't have it. Do you have more suggestions for me?

What More Do U Want From Me Im 17
Thank you for your advice. I install it myself. At the beginning, it was normal. The problem just happened around a few months ago.
Is the display a VFD (vacuum fluorescent display)? If so, then it relies on a HV power supply to light it up. Have you checked the condition of the solder joints around the display itself? How old is the unit? These displays do wear out eventually.
