the boundary layer turbine. another genious invention by the true genius of the 20th centry, Nikola Tesla. I won't go into detail right here, but you can find al sorts of information here: http://dmoz.org/Science/Technology/Energy/Devices/Tesla_Turbines/

I think that this would make an insane turbojet that could probably power a small train!

There was a guy on the RX-7 forum who wanted to use one to supercharge his car. Would have been a great idea, since there is very little heat generated (the killer of power). Don't know what happened, as he just stopped posting...
