I need some help with this radio I'm building.

http://www.aaroncake.net/circuits/one_tube_regen_radio_circuit.asp

I'm trying to track down the C1 part, the 250pf 100v Ceramic Disk cap.

But It's hard to find. So I was wondering if a 250pf 500v Ceramic Disk cap would work just as well, if at all. Because that the closest thing I can find.

If this wont work, please tell me why. I would like to learn Regen radios better.

I plan on posting pic of the finished product when I'm done.

Thx in advance,

250pF is an odd value. Since the capacitor is simply an input coupling capacitor then a 220pf or 270pF capacitor at almost any voltage will be fine.

A regen radio was designed to work when there were hardly any radio stations around so it was not overloaded. Today a regen radio will be seriously overloaded by all the very strong local radio stations unless you live far from civilization or use a short antenna wire.

Note that it is an AM radio. AM radio sounds awful.

Why use an antique vacuum tube?

Because nostalgia is fun! Why buy antiques? :)

Plus tubes just have a magic to them. It's the "spit and duct tape" period of electronics.
