Since you need only 6 outputs, you can just skip every other and use 5, or just skip the last 4, or connect output number 7 on the 4017 to it's reset pin.
I don't think the 4017 will sink enough current to drive 3 bright LEDs so you'll likely need to use a transistor at every group of LEDs to drive them.
Keep in mind that it may be illegal to run with flashing lights on the back of a vehicle. Check local laws because they may not be allowed, or only be allowed in a certain colour (orange). |
