But what I mean, is the meter more sensitive to some part of the spectrum vs. others? It could skew your measurements. Since incandescents belt out most of the spectrum the meter could read that as brighter than the LED, even though it may not be.

Sorry to interrupt the LED discussion but I just have to share this. I think a few tears came out. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AJckjhkG_4o&list=FLHezsNexmJE7rhNlxPKhTCg&index=1&feature=plcp
This depresses me. The news in North America sucks in comparison. If that happened around here there would be so much widespread offense that the reporter would likely be fired. It's pathetic.

My house is illuminated mostly by LEDs. No incandescents and only a few CFLs. If I get a chance I may post a few pics to show what they look like. I have a little 1W (or 3W, I forget) LED in the boot (trunk) of my car. My workshop has one of those corn-cob style LED lights which the manuf. claim is 20W but I haven't measured it to confirm. The future is now when it comes to LED lighting. Gotta love 'em.
Personally I hate the LED worklights, as well as CFL work lights. They don't seem to have nearly the light output that incandescents do, probably due to a narrow spectrum and more directional light. Then again I'm kind of weird in that I can see a little into the IR (handy for testing TV remotes) and am unusually sensitive in the UV spectrum. Give me good old incandescent until someone builds a full spectrum CFL/LED. |

I bought two 10W T8 LED tubes for the kitchen. Coming from China I didn't know what to expect. They turned out to be very good. The colour temperature is very white, not too warm and not too cool. They light up the whole kitchen better than the two 20W fluros that I had installed. They have an internal AC-DC switch-mode power supply that can operate from approximately 85VAC up to 250VAC. This means that if we have a brown-out (which we have), these lights will still produce full brightness down to 85VAC. I can't say the same for most CFLs, Fluro tubes and definitely not incandescents unless you have an off-grid backup supply.

A working environment should have multiple light sources, period. Preferably each producing evenly dispersed light out of a wide area. If the light-source is up high then you can get away with the beam being more focused. Lightly coloured walls also help. I think this is all pretty obvious to us anyway.

I for one welcome our new Martian gallus gallus overlords. On second thought...NUKE MARS!
Well, I happened to be on a conference call with a big wireless vendor yesterday aternoon that consisted of about 20 minutes discussing my network deployment, then an hour of discussing bee keeping and animal encounters during cable pulling jobs. It was a pleasant Friday afternoon. |

Well men, it's been an honor. |

Yeah, yet another apocalypse which turned out to be quite a nice, regular, and perhaps slightly routine day. SHOCKER
Sure hope that the TV networks do follow up shows with all those crazy people whom actually believed, in which they make fun of those people mercilessly. |

The Chinese news must be a well done fake. Even the most back-woods ignorant people would know that it wasn't a plant, just by the texture. There's nothing in nature that feels like sex-toy-silicone. Still funny as hell but just a bit too unbelievable. |

I was thinking it might be a fake video but it's still hilarious even if it is. It's not hard to imagine some people really thinking it was a mushroom.
