Hope this latest creation doesn't 'weird' anybody out....
Notice how the guru is able to not only levitate a turbo unit while dreaming about a completed Cosmo, but he is also able to levitate a rotor while at the same time, separating all the apex seals for inspection....Awesome!!

When one person suffers from a delusion it is called insanity. When many people suffer from a delusion it is called religion. |

I am planning on getting a set for my Kawasaki this December.
Well, that convinced me. Just seeing the images it's obvious they are quite equivalent to an incandescent. Guess I'll get a set for my bicycle next spring so I can replace the fog lights and thus run one less battery. Loosing a battery means that the space can now be used as storage (automatic water bottle).

You are not the only one. However I'm kind of used to it after running this site for so long. I've been photoshopped into the Matrix, Joe's Apartment, several rather more explicit scenes, etc.

Did you take pictures at EVfest this year? Or was it pretty much the same as last year?
Lots of pictures! A lot of the same crowd was there, as well as some new stuff. Seeing everyone's projects complete compared to last year was great. I was a bit disappointed that Tesla Motors ended up as a no-show. It was hard to judge attendance because the space was so large compared to previous years but as always there was a lot of interested in my old Insight. Partially because as a fluke it ended up in the center of the exhibit. Next year I'll know to bring a small BBQ and some real food because the on site restaurant at the Brickworks only serves organic hippie vegan stuff.

Huh, looks like single piece apex seals. I don't think that's a Mazda rotor.
Would it be OK to use one of these images (not sure which) as the for my next Cosmo episode? The next one will be 22.5 which is basically a status update and Q&A episode so I could have some fun with it. I'd credit you of course.

what the hell about 'we're not worthy' don't you understand?? Of course you can use the pics, you can do whatever you want....you are the great Aaron cake! LOL! Let me know if you have any special requests and I will do my best to photoshop portay you in a light that comes close to capturing your wise and mechanical awesomeness! On a side note, yes I have lots of time on my hands, I did this at work so in my opinion it was time well spent. Also, no none of this shit shouldn't creep anybody out, I just think the wicked contributions you make to this site, rx7club and your willingness to help point people in the right direction do indeed make you a pretty cool dude... That needs to be acknlowledged. Add to that a most cheese whizzy sense of humour and voila....a fan club only seems inevitable :) |

Haha, thanks! Apparently there is a fan club for me on Facebook but since I don't have a Facebook account I can't see it myself. Always happy to help out when time allows. Just this summer I've actually had a life (shocking, no?) so I've not spent as much time on the forums as usual. As much as I enjoy working on the Cosmo it will be nice to have it completed so that I can move on to the next phase of life and other projects.
As a random, yesterday I learned the terminal velocity of a cat in free-fall is 96 KM/H. |

I hear ya, I have a fake fecesbook account so I can stalk ex girlfriends :) Let me know if you want my credentials, I will PM you with them!
Too bad I forgot you were gonna be at EV fest or I would have come by to meet and greet. Could have gone out to grab you food too. Oh well, there is always next year.
To add to your randomness, apparently the highest AVG recorded drop for a cat without killing it is 32 stories.

No one I talked to at the EV Fest mentioned my website, so if there were any there who had seen the site, they didn't make it obvious. I did meed the obligatory over-unity crazy people. My favourite one this year was a man designing a very efficient series of motors and generators (same thing, I know) and he would connect the 1.5KW generator shaft to the shaft of the 1KW motor. He kept saying that he's so close to getting more power out of the generator than he's putting into the motor. So very close...
Nah, I'm really not interested in anything to do with Facebook. Guess I could make a burner account but I just don't see the point. Bunch of chatter. If I want to see my friends I do it in real life. |

That's funny. I'll have to look it up again, but I joined the fan club, talked to the guy and he told me his username on here.
I have a couple facebook accounts for different reasons.
It would be nice if you did have a Facebook to keep us updated on smaller things. I guess that's what the forum is for sorta, but yeah. |
If you don't have the time to do it right, when will you have the time to do it over? |

Ok gents, at long last, here is what I have setup as far as a LED lux measurement test:
I purchased two sets of LED bulbs, the first set off flea bay for a mere $9.99 with free shipping: This bulb is about the same size as a conventional 12V automotive filament bulb.
120 LED 3528 SMD 1156 BA15S Pure White Fog Head Light Lamp Bulb DC 12V http://www.ebay.ca/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=130592729021&ssPageName=ADME:L:OC:CA:1123
The second set I bought for $25 each which came out to a whopping $58 bucks after tax and shipping from Superbrightleds.com
1156 LED Bulb - Single Intensity 45 SMD LED Tower
http://www.superbrightleds.com/search/led-products/1156-cw45-t/
You can see the 45 SMD LED tower bulb is just over half the size of the 120 SMD LED tower bulb and at 10x the cost.
My light meter finally came in yesterday fresh off the boat from Hong Kong like a rub and tug worker in cheap heels.
It measures in both FC = Foot Canlde (From Wiki: The name "footcandle" conveys "the illuminance cast on a surface by a one-candel source one foot away" and LUX (also from Wiki: luminous flux or luminous power is the measure of the perceived power of light).
Here it is measuring the light from my desk lamp:
So my question is, how far away should I have the light meter? One foot away using FC measurement? or at multiple distances using LUX units? I am going to conduct the tests using my motorcycle signals which illuminate solid instead of blinking if I pull the bulb on the opposite side signal which should make capturing the peak luminosity easier than if the light was blinking. The readings will be taken in my garage which is pitch black with the door closed and I will be taking measurements of both the 45 and 120 LED SMD bulbs against the standard 12V automotive filament jobbies.
The last step after obtaining those readings is to maybe order an amber set considering my signal light lens covers are amber going back to what you said Aaron about the less light possibly travelling through a different coloured lenses and comparing the two results. But really, the very last step of the test will be to measure the voltage draw of all the bulbs to complete the full spectrum of data.
If I could please get your educated opinions on how far back I should have the light meter in order to determine what the optimum bulb for use as motorcycles signals (without impeding or limiting light output) would be. Optimum being most bang for your voltage buck at a reasonable cost.
That is all for now |

The exact distance is probably not important since you are comparing to a traditional bulb of the same style. Get a fridge box or something, paint the inside black and then mount the test bulbs at one end. Mount the meter through the wall at the other end and then test each pair of LED/incandescent bulbs.
The one thing I wonder though is whether the meter is sensitive to spectrum. The LED bulbs have a far narrower spectrum than incandescent which could affect readings. It certainly changes how people see LED light. |

Here are the responses from my cross post on ADV:
http://advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?p=19811805#post19811805
Looks like you were right about the amber bulb emitting more light out of an amber lens than the white as well as the direction the light gets emitted that make the most difference in brightness.
I doubt a $14 light meter is going to even touch spectrum. |

Did you by chance measure the current these draw? Also has anyone said how reliable they are? This would be a nice thing to use in the anchor lite on the top of my boat. would be nice to only have to climb up there once. And they aren't nearly as expensive as the "marine" options I have seen. |
