what kind of NPN Phototransistor would i use in making infra-red remote control?any substitute of LM308 and 1.5uF 16V Electrolytic Capacitor?i need a reply asap for my project...thanks

Most any generic NPN transistor will do the job. To find out what substitutes are available for the LM308, just ask your local electronics store. They will tell you what is available to them. Alternately, any op-amp with similar specs can be used with minor adjustments.

You can use any voltage above 16V for the capacitor, as long as the value is the same.
