Im trying to use a darlinton pair for my flyback driver. I was wondering if i can use 2 IRF540 mosfets to make the pair. and if anyone knows if i wire it to a transformer dose one lead from the transformer go to Collector and other to Emitter? http://www.technologystudent.com/images2/tran4.gif
A darlington pair of bipolar transistors is used to reduce the base current that is needed. Mosfets do not have any base current so a single Mosfet will work fine if you connect it properly.
Bipolar transistors nave a collector and emitter, not Mosfets. Mosfets have a drain and a source. Usually the transformer winding connects one wire to the positive supply and the other wire to the collector of a transistor or the drain of a Mosfet. Your sketch has the darlington transistors shorting the power supply.
