Hey guys. i need a schematic that puts out 12v 2mps.

What i have:
2amp transformer This is the best transformer i have...
i have mad one with a bridge-rectifier and a 470uf (and tried others)as the filter, but.. it still doesn't want to run my IC also.. it doesn't look like it puts out 2 amps either..

Thanks for reading, and SUPER THANKS if u helped.

(Edit...Move to Power Supply)

A circuit would help us.

this is what i made http://sub.allaboutcircuits.com/images/quiz/00789x01.png this is what i described the filter being the capacitor, but this prob is that it wont run my circuit. ( my circuit includes a 555IC)

What voltage is the transformer, and what DC voltage are you getting across the 470mfd capacitor?

Your drawing did not show how you are wiring the 12/24v side.
And you didn't answer the question about DC voltage.

The drawing you gave was of a bog-standard guaranteed-to-work power supply. If you cannot get it to work you either have a faulty component or you have not wired it up correctly. Without more information its impossible to even suggest reasons.

Is the mains supply OK?
Is the fuse OK?
Is the transformer primary O/C?
Are you using the correct secondary connections?
Is the rectifier OK and wired in properly?
Is the capacitor wired across the low voltage output or in series?

Find the time to draw out YOUR circuit and do voltage checks at appropriate points and then you can get some help.

470uF is far too small to filter a 2A power supply that has a 2A load. The output voltage will be full of ripple and the average DC voltage will be low. Use 10,000uF.

The peak voltage of a 12VAC transformer (17V minus the rectifier drops) is very close to the 16V max allowed supply voltage for a 555 IC.

The circuitry around a 555 will only take a few milliamps. What sort of total current are you drawing?

ok i was unable to find a 10k uf cap. so i tryed a 4700 cap and it powers the circuit for about half a second. so that makes me think that it draws too much current and discharges the cap too fast. My guess is i need a regulator.

If the pots are set wrong then the Mosfet will blow up if the power supply does not limit the current.
