Hey all,
I was just wondering what you guys thought about the latest Microsoft OS. Have you tried it out? Do you like it? If cost weren't a consideration for the upgrade, would you?

| I only tried Win7 RC1 for a about 30 minutes. During that time I can say that it was stable, fast, easy to work with, looks good and had some interesting new handy features. I like the window snap feature - a great time saver. |

| I'm going to be installing it on my Phenom computer soon. Seems like they took a lot of stuff from Mac OS X though. My other computers won't be able to run it though. |
If you don't have the time to do it right, when will you have the time to do it over? |

| I had it running on a 1.7ghz celeron with 1gb ram. It worked much faster than vista, but it did seem to lag/slow response times. |

I've been very impressed with the betas but have not tried the shipping version. Everything I have seen makes me think it is more like Windows 2000 reborn then an upgrade to Vista in a sense.
I'd be upgrading my machines, but I cannot stand the Vista style common dialogs which Win7 seems to have inherited. |

| Yeh me too, I hate the way it treats everyone as idiots with the silly wizards and hints, which increase the length of time you spend trying to get the thing done you could of done in a split second in XP. Saying that though, 7 has cut down on some of that Vista crap |

| It's insane. XP had the same shortcuts that all versions of Windows had since 95, yet suddenly in Vista they didn't exist. What to right click "Network Places" to get the Network Connections? Too bad! Now it's 2894720 more clicks just to get the damn network properties. Sigh. |

In vista when you want to connect to wireless, unless it is a laptop with build in, screw it. |

| Why's that? What difference does it make with a laptop/desktop. I would of thought a desktop would perform better due to bigger antennas, and the fact it's not being shielded by other computer components squashed next to it |

A laptop will automatically search if the WiFi is built in, in a desktop, you have to put it in there and mess with everything. it is just a big clusterfuck. |

| Oh so you're reffering to driver installation? I didn't really have any problems when installing wireless drivers on vista. It's only straightforward for laptops if you are running the oem image from the manufacturer where the drivers are preinstalled, otherwise it's exactly the same as installing on a desktop |
