I have an amplifier which stopped working and when i opened its plate to see the pcb, the four resistors on it were carbon black and they are blown up i think as the power LED of amplifier turns on but sound doesn't come out from the speakers..
The problems is the colour codes on it is not readable so how can i find their values?

obtain the same model amplifier - one that works, crack open the case, then look at the resistors. Next put the case back on and use that amplifier since it works.

The resistors are blown up because transistors and other parts are also blown up.

yeah man, there are a lot of other parts that would be gone if a bunch of the resistors are gone. Some of the power transistors must be shorted. Goodluck!

Maybe you shorted the output of the amp which caused a current that was high enough to burn the resistors but not high enough to blow the transistors. It is very unlikely.

Enter the make and model number of the amp into Google and you might find its service manual with its schematic, parts layout and parts list.

Look up Xsistors in Datasheet catalog site. It should have typical vaules & wattage rating. It doesn't matter if a few ohms off. No biggy. See if it works first.

Yes, but if the value on the resistor is unreadable- it is too burnt, how are you meant to get the value? However I have burnt many resistors and sometimes (all the time for me) the outside is completely black and the resistance is as if it would be not burnt. That may be in your case.

But as mentioned before, a fault caused the resistor to burn up, the chances are is that if you replace it, it would just burn out again unless something had fallen in it and caused a short.

Try and find the service manual for the amplifier, the scheatic will be in there...
