There are 3 things I want to make before I die/ start a job (another 9 years to go!!) 1) make a tesla coil (no idea how.., ive spent days looking up how it works but never understood anything!) 2) make a coilgun, when I tried before i managed to shoot a pin 2 CM, my windings were crap, and it was powered from a 9V battrey, no posh charging/ high voltage circuit 3) make something that I can ride in (HT) anyone got ideas how, advice, schematics.. ect

I would suggest making a scooter like mine. I will post pictures as soon as i can find the software for my $8 digital camera(from radio shack of course!). I think you heard about it here. If not, i will re-eplain it.

hehe, I would like to make those things but they are rather expencive, or make a cheap go-cart. the only problem is that i have limited things. The only ..*diffrent*...things i have is:
one microwave transformrer one 2 KV capisator one plastic coated flyback transformer copious amounts of 12V transformers i found in a dumpster

I will post pictures as soon as i can find the stupid software for my camera. It is by Digigr8, if anyone has them. There is no model number, so? It is a fairly obsolete company. I never knew that they existed. Oh, well? SuSE linux can read the device(xp cant...), i will just through in my linux hard drive, and then copy the picures over to my jump drive. Time consuming yes, but i have nothing better to do! :)

Whoa? What was i smoking? What does "eplain" mean? Huh. That is supposed to be explain.

Errrr linx, I never found a proper use linux, only playing tux Racer game :-) and i did work out what eplain means...... Ive seen people use resin/plastic coated TV Flyback transformers to make sparks but how do they find the pinouts?? its impossible to rewind it. Its covered in crappy resin. The one I pulled it out of a tv that went BOOM. its got 15 pins including the big red wire and the smaller red and grey wire, anyone got pinouts....................................

It's harder to use coated flyback transformers. Getting the pinout is annoying, and many of them include the voltage multiplier circuit already or at least a rectifier.
You can get a pinout reasonably well by finding the lead on the bottom with the highest resistance to the HV output lead. That will be your ground. Now wind your primary onto the other half of the core.
There's not a lot you can do with a microwave transformer unless you are going to rewind it and use it for something else. They do make good paperweights though...

hmmm it gets hard to rewind a primary when its set in plastic.... i think thats heading for the bin :P Microwave transformers...I remember making sparks with that, ohhhh that was fun!! Can the secondary coil be used, for a electromagnetic gun? Or I might just stick with the paper weight idea.....

Yeh I have two of those cameras, now I only have one, I wonder why..... When you got that microwave transformer, did you also grab a magnetron? I am not shure if that is exactly how it is spelled). Just hook the magnetron inside some duct work, and aim it at some electronics! I have not tried it myself, but have heard that it does some crazy things! |

yes, but a magnetron could also kill you VERY fast. THIS IS NOT ADVISABLE!
Yes, i have the software now(finally). If you are still interested, binary, then i can take pics now. |

Howdy.
One of my science teachers had a friend who named his pet microwave "Chernobyl", after the nuclear reactor that went 'KA-F$%#&ING-BOOM!' He named it that because he dropped it one day and snapped the door off. Being a poor college student, he could not afford another microwave, so his solution was to put it out the back door facing the neighbours. When it was burrito time, he would lean out of the door, place his food inside, hit the go button and run for his life.
At least the burrito got cooked. Maybe the neighbours too .........
Cheers, Mick |

You know what would be funny to see? Some fool ripping the door off of an old microwave, and then putting the whole unit into deep freezer! Then turn both of them on! Aww, hell, just through a car battery in there too!
What do you think would happen? Fuzruking BOOM? |
