I am a drag racer, and im looking for someone that can help me figure out how to jam the guys that are cheating in drag racing. I think they are using something like a RF generator to scramble my delay box. Would like to talk to someone that loves to make small gadgets. thanks
Brian

OK...

What I would suggest (and this is probably the easiest solution) would be to shield your delay box and any input/output cables. Don't take this the wrong way, but most wiring I see done in vehicles (by both professional and amateur) can only be described as horrific. A solid metal or mesh box around your delay, which shielded cable running to your solenoids would make an enormous difference.

There's not a lot you can do to counteract someone if they are generating large amounts of RF other then prove they are doing so and then to go the proper authorities.

Aaron cake, so is it possible to emmit enough RF to scramble or distorte a delay box>> In what ways can it be done??? can it be done, the track is a radio station to transmit over a radio station, can it be done from a motor home? can it be something that is hand held?? And i have a nother question? at the tracks they have photocells at different points of the track, can some one use a laser pointer to break that beam from the side lines or can it be a laser beam generated from the car pointed in the opponets direction??? Thanks for all you help

It is definitly possible, but I have to wonder how practical. Most boxes I have seen are in a metal case and are entirely digital. It would take a great amount of RF directly aimed at the box to cause problems. I doubt even a magnatron from a microwave would do it from any distance, so the device would have to be generating multiple kilowatts of RF energy in a highly targeted beam....frying anything between the emittor and it's target...Seems highly unlikely.

It would not be handheld by any means.

If you are concerned they are cheating, why not tell the track officials? Or, get a spectrum analyzer and look for huge RF spikes as you are staging...

I've never considered using a laser beam to interfere with the sensors. No idea if it would work or not. Probably would on older setups, but newer setups are likely encoded.

What makes you think that there is all this high-tech cheating going on?

Aaron, if you take a look at the matty box from mattyinovations.com there is alot of it going on in NHRA and IHRA. photo cells that are actavated by the first yellow on the tree. Traction control, with the electrical age apon us, there is more stuff out there that is cheating than i can shake a stick at. I just want a fair chance, but its getting to the point, if you cant beet them JOIN them. LOL

The only thing I can find on that site is a race analyzer.
