I want to make an alarm clock that will give an electric shock to wake someone up instead of a sound. My reason for this is that I am a very very heavy sleeper and a device like this would probably be the only thing that could wake me up. To make it a little simpler I was thinking of just getting a small alarm clock and one of those reaction games, you know the ones you have to press a button when the sound goes otherwise you bet a blast of electricity. So is there anyway I could use the small electric voltage to trigger a switch which will turn on the reaction game? P.S if you can find a ciruit please make it simple ive only been studying electronics for about 3 weeks now in college
Interesting idea. I guess the only issue is that the clock would require electrodes connected to your body. Might be a problem when trying to sleep (people move a lot). It could be done without the electrodes, but it would require a MUCH higher voltage with is dangerous, and could start a fire.
You can get a weak shock by connecting a relay as a vibrator and tapping two connections off the coil. You'll see spikes of around 1000V but with very little current.
A shocking game is probably easier and safer as well.
Instead of an electric shock, how about a subwoofer under your bed? Blasts you with bass when the alarm goes off. Don't know if your neighbours would appriciate it though.
I like the ideas. as for connecting your self to the electrodes i was just going to use an anti-static strap and put it on my ankle to avoid choaking my self during sleep :) im gona keep working on it. im still trying to find a way to get the electric game to turn on when the alarm goes i might see if i can leave the game on then use a transistor to pass the current when the alarm supplys power
