i am not an engineering but i know a little about stuff i realy need a converter to run normal cd-rom in my car so if anyone have any info. about the wanted circuit plz answer. by the way it will be better if it doesnt need a heat sinker
We've covered this before. A search for "CDROM car" or variations should turn it up.
But the summary is that a CDROM needs 5V and 12V. You can make 5V easily (check out the "CD Player Adapter For Car" on the circuits page) and likely connect the car's 12V directly. You MAY find you need to regulate it down as the car's output is actually closer to 14V, but using a similar scheme to the 5V will work fine.
Keep in mind that you need to choose a CDROM with controls on the front since controlling it through the IDE bus is a LOT more complicated.
