Anyone has any instuctions for building a small (within cubic 1ft) engine that can be built at home? That will run using steam or alcohol etc. That could power a small toy boat or a small toy car with a good speed. Or even a rocket engine that can propel a small air craft (about 1-2 pounds).
I had a site with a bunch of small steam engines, but I have long since lost it. It wouldnt be hard, try and adapt pipe fittings for each of the parts. For example, a 1.5" copper pipe could serve as the cylinder.
Maybe a small 2-stroke diesel? They've been around for ever. You might be able to scrounge one or at least get the plans and some of the parts from somewhere. Or if you have access to a junk yard you could gut a turbo unit from a car and try to build your own turbine. There was a guy in Australia that did that. Search for 'jet powered beer cooler'
