I somehow managed to put a thick grinding disk upside down, and now I can't get it off. I've tried using the wrench with a piece of steel tubing, but that bent the tool. Is there any way to get the disk off without breaking it off?

Hm, have you tried a puller? But that will likely damage the disk.

Please do not take this wrong. I say that because I have been where you are many times.
Is it possible that it has left hand threads as opposed to the normal counter clock wise threads to remove a nut ?
Also I use a large set of vise grips to hold the disk when I am trying to remove the nut. That is my method when there is no push button that goes in to the shaft to "lock it" while removing/inst a disk. Also if worse comes to worse a nut splitter may be used to remove the nut, thus saving the shaft and the tool. Please let the forum know how you finally resolve the problem as I am always looking to learn. Thanks Tom
