You could use a shrader valve (the valve on a car's tire) and carry a bicycle pump around with you. But once it got over 40 to 50 psi it would be hard to get it any higher. I have pics of a pneumatic potatogun i made with a friend, and we will have some plans up in a week or two. I would suggest just using a compresor, because it would be quicker and easier, and you would be able to pump it up to a higher psi. You can check out the pics at http://j-n-c.8m.com/photo2.html
LOL, yeah the barrel and compresion chamber are about 5 1/2 feet long. The barrel is 2 in. and compresion chamber is 3 in. and the ball valve is 3/4 in. It will launch a spud a good 200-250 yrds with 80 psi. And thats a good idea with little electric pump, just make sure it will get up to atleast 100 psi.
