Yea, we have a small junkyard over here in Geneva and me and my frend have to play the "Who is guarding today" game. We have to find out who is guarding there when we go. There are 2 people. This really disgusting guy who wont let us in. He takes his job waay too seriously. Then there is the nice guy who lets us take anything we want.
Well, the dumps are technically private property, so the guy did have the right to yell at you, but who the hell doesn't want people stealing generic trash?
Wow! a PIII board in the trash. You shoud get a bunch of stuff from there and sell it on ebay. You coud make alot of money.

back when I was 10 or so, we had these neighbors who would come over and play at our tank. Unfortunately the kids would bring their dogs who would chase the swans we had. Numerous times we told both the kids and the parents that they need to keep their dogs tied up. eventually the dogs killed one of the swans. One day while was down by the tank, I saw the mother and son stop at the pond while they were on a walk. The mother stood and watched as the dogs chased the swans. I got pretty mad at seeing this, so I took a couple of shots at the dogs. One of these shots wizzed by the kid who was peeing behind a tree (unknowing to me I might add). The kid probly soiled himself and went running to his mom, who calles the dogs and starts walking home. About a month later they moved away to add to that as well. since then we had some geese which were also killed off by some neighbors. who after paying for the $200 some ought vet bill still did not keep their dogs tied up. this event also scared off the mallards we had. so now we dont keep any wildlife on our tank.

Anyways, to all you people with those problems, its time to pull out a R/C tank (that fires high speed BBs or even a flame thower) with a Camera on the turrent. If you aim at a human aim for the legs, if animal, aim for the head. lol

I do actually think that I am permitted to take anything, but from another container, and there you can find the oldest stuff, like ripped up bags, old monitors with gost pictures, while in that other container a man threw a new 19" monitor!!!! And here in danmark there are also a lot of imigrants from Turkey or those other countries, one of them he hided himself near the container took a great looking new comupter cabinet, and walked just near that guard, he said nothing, then he stopped near their office and began to put it in his car, he sad nothin eather... why is he permitted when I'm not! They recell all that stuff! On that container there is only written, that you are forbidden to take things appart there, there is nothing about taking them with me home. Next time I'll take and run if it's him again.

(school)life sucks...
the other day, i was in Multimedia/web class.. and the guy beside me, whom i consider a friend, asked me about those stupud dialog box popups that you find in NT OSs, like XP or NT 4 etc. He wanted to know how those advertising people were sending them without any 3rd party programs, so me with my server/client newrok at home, obviously knew. Students can log on 2 ways on the comptuer.. there is the domain, that you log on with your student # and there is the local account on the computer that everyone has access to. Not all computers have this account. THe really stupid thing is that the local account has like more than half the services running and virtually has no restrictions of any sort, yet the student account, is nearly 90% restricted.. is that logical??? anywy, back to the story. So i told him how it works and demonstrated on the local account(student account doesnt have the messenger service running) how the thing works. I of course, used the compter's IP, so only my computer would get the message. After, the guy goes and does net send * asd. This sent 'asd' to the whole network, i am not sure if it was only one of the domains in the school we use or all 7. anyway.. every computer gets the message on the school network. No big deal..But, then he send a mesasge "(so and so) is gay. Idiot. this raised a few eyebrows, students' and teachers'. Some guy that also knew how to send these, sends one back, using the *. he also tells a few others how to.. so they all start sending messages to the whole domain. the messages start flying back and fourth.. The head of the computer department comes in the other computer room trying to find out who did it. anyway, someone sqweels and all five of us head to the VPs. She is this femenist. She is one of these people that loves power. so she starts lecturing us and all that crap, how they can trace it and stuff.. we eventually said it was us (although i disagreed but she wouldnt hear it.). She wouldnt let us say a word. every teacher in the school hates this lady. "if you found out that you can do this, and came to me, you wouldnt be in any trouble" she said.. yeah right..Luckly, it was the local account, so nothing is tracable, only the workstation. We all get to write a 2 page essay about interbet ethics and crap. thats not bad.. but if i dont get my parents to talk with her, i am suspended..
I didnt do anything except tell some one how something works.. and look where it gets me....... If a chemistery teacher tells students how a bomb works, and some student builds a bomb.. i wouldnt think the teacher would get much, even where lives are at risk. but a little thing like this.. and people get suspended. She should get out of that office of hers and take a look what kind of crap is going on in the school. people are smoking inside the school, traficing drugs, vandalism etc. The very office we were sent to, there is a window to the front of the school... people are smoking and loitering on school property (you are not even allowed to smoke accoss the street) and we get crap for this..... this is most inconveniutent because i have 2/8 courses that i sit infront of a comptuer. no more comptuer in school for me..
right now, i am more pissed at the stupid VP than the idiots that did all the stuff.. oh well... hope wasnt too long for you..

It's been my experience that academic administrative people are often crazy or a little burnt out. They are doing a job that most other people in the academic community have little or no interest in. Most researchers prefer to be holed up in the lab or off on conferences, and couldn't give a rat's ass about paperwork or running a lab or whatever. I've ran into entire departments that were hamstrung by people in key administrative positions who were just evil or inept or both. Scott Adam's 'CatBert' character is sometimes not too far off from reality...

Heheh I like dilbert.
Sorry about you school dillema Epsilon!, I think it is due to peoples fear of the unknown. She doesnt know very much about the computers and is probably intimidated by anyone that does have that knowidge. Since she doesnt know what is possible with that information, she just tries to condemn it instead of learinig and figuring out how harmless it was. Or something like that.

Couldn't have said it better...Stop trying to "enforce" something you have no hope of understanding, and instead deal with real problems...
I was sent to the office so many times for "hacking" (laugh....their definition of hacking is opening a DOS window) I just stopped going...

I was fortunate in that my comp teacher had a bit of a clue. He was still behind the best students in the class, but as long as you did the required work and didn't do anything that screwed stuff up perminantly, he'd just let us do our thing.

The schools idea of hacking is opening a DOS window? Phh. Zargham Khan, a year 9 student at my school, stole our IT Manager guy's user password and deleted every folder, file and program from his user. Funnily enough, that guy doesnt work here anymore.

People have no respect for others property in college...It seems to get worse as you get older. In one semester my bike was stolen and my camaro was also broken into and the system and half of my clothes were stolen. Both were locked at the time of theft... Besides that that same car has also been hit by uninsured drivers and vandalized by girls I wouldn't date, talk about a bad luck charm!

People who vanadalize other's things generally have no hope of owning such a thing themselves. So in an odd way, it's a compliment...
