Hey all...

I didn't know where to put this, so here it is..

My firend got in a bit of trouble at this internet cafe. The owner saw him through the surveillance camera and caught him doing something on the computer.

After searching for a couple of hours and no luck. I though I try here

My question is: Is it legal for a place to have surveillance cameras and no signs or notices that inform the public that the premesiss is wached/recorded on camera.

btw. I live in Toronto ON Canada..

I am not asking you guys to waste your time looking, you dont have to, i just wanna know what you people think of this. I think it illegal but I am not sure. Anything will be much appreciated.

Thaks people.

like you never stole something...

what he did was actually cryptography but he says that the cop said it was theft under 5000...

maybe you should stand in front of a satilite dish for a while, it would improve the gene pool. just kidding

i am just trying to help the guy i dont think making him sterile would help.. wouldnt you?

Yeah.. porno, is that all you people think of these days?

it was theft actually.. he 'took' something of $50 value

I have looked at some stuff for theft under 5000. max penalty is $2000 fine and 6 months in the slammer.

what do you guys think will happen? Fine? Community service?

I found some stuff here
http://www.acjnet.org/youthfaq/privideo.html
"...The Criminal Code doesn't allow the electronic interception of private conversations.."
they also saved an msn convo on a floppy and read it on the computer, this was the proof .

thanks
