Hey all...

I didn't know where to put this, so here it is..

My firend got in a bit of trouble at this internet cafe. The owner saw him through the surveillance camera and caught him doing something on the computer.

After searching for a couple of hours and no luck. I though I try here

My question is: Is it legal for a place to have surveillance cameras and no signs or notices that inform the public that the premesiss is wached/recorded on camera.

btw. I live in Toronto ON Canada..

I am not asking you guys to waste your time looking, you dont have to, i just wanna know what you people think of this. I think it illegal but I am not sure. Anything will be much appreciated.

Thaks people.

Yeah.. porno, is that all you people think of these days?

it was theft actually.. he 'took' something of $50 value

I have looked at some stuff for theft under 5000. max penalty is $2000 fine and 6 months in the slammer.

what do you guys think will happen? Fine? Community service?

I found some stuff here
http://www.acjnet.org/youthfaq/privideo.html
"...The Criminal Code doesn't allow the electronic interception of private conversations.."
they also saved an msn convo on a floppy and read it on the computer, this was the proof .

thanks
