Hi, i need to swith on or off a 120VAC lights with a 12VDC, 60 to 800mA. I think i could do this with a relay but i'm not shure. I guess so i need a diode to protect the relay. Can you guys help me? If it's possible, can you send me a diagram?

Try to look at this picture.  .
This uses a 24 volt DC supply and your using 12V. You just replace the 24 volt to 12 V. This would be a reference for you. Hope this helps. For more information, you can search google for transistor switch circuits. |

I think he means a relay with appropriate contact ratings to handle the higher voltage AC instead of, say, a 12V automotive relay. |

What is an AC relay?
The load and contacts use AC but the coil uses DC.

You need a relay and a diode across its coil connected in the correct direction. |
