If I could replace the caps and resistors with higher watt rated caps and resistors and the IC with something a little more robust ... could this circuit be made to produce 4 amps? I need to run a laptop from my cars lighter socket. Any ideas about what IC could be used for that?
Thanks. |

For a detailed video about this type of 12V inverter in action. See this link:

I have put together many of Aaroncake's circuits, many very good, but I did have issues with this circuit. This video shows how to stop the exploding capacitor problem, and also shows another variation which produce plenty of power. |

This is a great circuit, but if you want a really easy boost converter, just go buy a pwm chip (they make ones for this exact purpose). |

Hello everyone, we finally got this circuit working. For Q1, we had to replace BC337 with BC331 because BC337 wasn't strong enough and kept getting fried. BC331, however, requires a heatsink as well, so don't forget that. Also, as L1 we used a serial connection of 1.7 mH and 0.2 mH inductors. The L1 mystery has been solved at last. :)
Cheers. |

Can I get 43Kw from this circuit or will I need a heatshink ?
(Editor's notes: Uh, no.) |

Can author of this circuit please post inductance of L1 since there is no info about permeability of toroidal core? |

Please give us more information about L1 because it's hard to calculate exact inductance without info such as permeability. Best option would be to give us exactly how many henries there should be. Thanks. |

Inductor L1 can I substitute with a relay ? And use from a relay 12vdc 1 A (only solenoide) ?

I simulated this circuit in Multisim. Works good. If you setup a voltage divider off your output sample instead of feeding back the whole voltage to the first opamp. You can raise the output voltage. I tried 24K and 100K resistor values. |

I wonder if I can get a higher voltage from this(26V)? If yes, which modifications need to be done to the circuit(note: if possible the input mustn't chande)? |

hi! newbies here, i just need for some advice on inductor(L1) that can be easily bought in the market... is there any board that you can use to temporarily insert those parts in the diagram (like breadboard)?... thanks in advance |

this transistor is not the correct choice.. when i tried it got burned
D313 npn transistor effective enough to give 22.3 voltage at the node with fr diode 1n5819..... it really works |

It seems the circuit above is wrong. Q1 would never open because there is no difference of potentials between base and emitter |

Any specs on the inductor? For example if I wanted to buy one instead of making one?
Thanks |
