Outback Steakhouse Has Brought Back The Jackaroo Chops
Saturday, March 03, 2007

Almost two years ago today, I was shocked and dismayed to learn that the Outback Steakhouse had removed the Jackaroo Chops from the Canadian menu. It disturbed me enough that I sent a few emails to the Outback world headquarters and was told upon reply that the chops were removed from the menu due to lack of interest by the customers. There was nothing I could do so I was forced to accept the fact that I could only get my favourite pork chops at the Outback when I travelled into the USA. As this was only a few times a year, I basically went without.

Imagine my amazement when I picked up the menu at the Outback Steakhouse in London, only to see pork chops listed once again! The waitress confirmed that yes, these were the same chops, with the only difference being the size of the serving (10oz vs. the previous 16oz). Of course I promptly ordered the new chops, as did the friend I was dining with and we both basked in the glory that was the slab of pig meat on our plates. Indeed, the only difference between these rather plainly named "pork chops" and the old "Jackaroo Cops" is the smaller portion of meat. The seasoning, side options and sauce are exactly the same.

This makes me very happy. Was it due to this website? Probably not. But I do know for a fact that my original post (linked above) was viewed by the people at OSI Restaurant Partners Inc. more then once, so I hope I had at least a small part in the return of the pork chops in Canada.

I'm glad to hear you got your Jackaroo Chops back. I happened on to your site looking for info about a battery charger, read about the light dark detector which I have been looking for. I don't want to build one but I think I might have to. I had 3 RX7s a long time ago. One of them got hit 1 month after I bought it and took almost a year to get back on the road, they should have just totalled it. In any event, I used to go to Outback every Friday night for years. I bet you didn't know that they have all kinds of stuff not on the menu that they will make if you ask. I found this out from a girl I met that worked for Outback Corporate. So if you see something on the menu that you want with something else on the menu they will make it up for you, and come up with a price. What I found strange in the US was some Outbacks have king crab legs and some have lobster tails, but none that I have been to have both, I live in Arizona we have crab. It's been a while since I have been there but if you have never tried the "chopped salad" I would say give it a go. AZ
