Lack Of Buffy
Thursday, May 22, 2003

It was Tuesday of this week that I sat down and watched the last ever new episode of Buffy The Vampire Slayer. What is interesting is that the first time I watched, I did so simply so that I would have material to make fun of the next day. I thought it would suck, and be quite high on the lame-o-meter. That was 7 years ago, and I have not missed an episode since.

Now I am not a hardcore Buffy fan. I don't know Xander's lines from the first scene of episode 312 off by heart, and I can't tell you every tiny detail from the Buffyverse. But I certainly know a good show when I see one, and Buffy was for so many reasons an excellent show. The characters were strongly developed (especially after 8 years), true to themselves (except during that aweful 4th season), dialog was witty and entertaining, and the whole thing was just plain creative. And no, I was not a fan of Buffy because of Sara Michelle Geller. I am probably the only person in the world that doesn't think she's "hot". It is sad to see this part of my life go, but in all reality, it couldn't have gone on forever. Better to end on a high then allow the show to continue, go down the tubes, and then end out of necessity.

The last episode was nothing special at all, which was sort of a disappointment. You would figure that they would at least make it a two hour event, but they probably have their reasons. At least everyone did not die (like in Forever Knight), so there is a possibility of at least a limited future. As long as there aren't any moronic spinoffs (ie. Angel). Yes, Angel is moronic. I quite hate that show, and am insulted in the fact that while Forever Knight was cancelled, Angel (which, started out as an almost exact copy, right down to the car) continues on simply because it is more trendy...Anyway...

It is very doubtfull that there will ever be a show such as Buffy again. Or at least, if there is, it will always live in the shadows of Buffy. It will be hard to top a show that lasted for 7 years, including, of all things, a musical episode.

You spelt Xander wrong. It's with an X. Obviously you arnt a hardcore Buffy fan, but even then someone who has watched it for 7 years should know it's spelt with a X, So either you are lying or are a complete idiot. Yes Yes Yes. ANd also Hadrollo she went out with Angel because he had a soul and was a total hottie. And she went out with Spike because her life was very screwed up at the time and she had mixed emotions for him( in the end he got a soul so she liked him again) ANd if you actually watched the show bitch Dawn was the KEY!!! Ya know Glory and all. Also if you watch the special feature in season 5 they kind of explain it. SO thats my opinion!!!!! Tootles!

(Editor's note: Before you call me an idiot, perhaps you should take a closer look? Xander is spelled with an X because it is short for AleXander. I have spelled it correctly...)

Ill agree, Buffy is a good show. But have you noiced that a chick who kills vampires has gone out with two of em. And how the only child all of a sudden had a younger sister?
Its a great show, but not for continuity.
