 Thermo switch for radiator fan for atv

Just wondering if anybody could help me, I have an atv with a liquid cooled engine set up very much like the cooling system on a car, Im having problems with thermo switch going bad went threw 3 since Ive owned it and thay are $40 each. the one key diference it has over a car is there is no relay between thermo switch and power source. I assume its because the atv fan pulls under 4 amps when runnng. I was thinking about wiring in a relay, or is that overkill. not sure what the amp. rating is on my thermoswitch, cant find any info on that

Wire up the relay as shown here:
http://www.aaroncake.net/rx-7/efaninstall.htm

That way it doesn't matter what the rating of the thermoswitch is. Use a standard automotive 30A relay and you'll be fine.
