I've been thinking a lot about the le mans race lately, and I began to wonder what it would take to make a 100% electric car that could compete. I figure it would be a good career goal to have since I want to have my own electric car company.

I know Electric cars are a lot more expensive, but I was wondering if anyone knows if there are spending regulations for the teams that compete.

The main problem is going to be the power source. Unless you can fit a small fission reactor into the vehicle, you're just not going to be able to carry enough battery power. Theoretically battery changes could be faster than a liquid fuel fill up, but you'd be making them far more often so the advantage would be lost.

Plus the sanctioning body tends to just outlaw and make non-competitive anything out of the ordinary that does well.
