So, have you lived in Australia all your life bud?
Yes. What about you? BTW that last sentence in my previous post was a movie reference.
Later.
Yeah I have been in Canada since 1975 and I was born in 73 so if anybody asks I do say "I AM CANADIAN" which was ironically the stupid marketing campaign for a domestic beer named oddly enough...Canadian.
I can't upload pics to this forum for the life of me!

Thai Kok? Awesome. I pass a sign on my way to Aylmer or St. Thomas Ontario quite often advertising the "Mapleton Taxidermy and Cheese Store". Been meaning to stop and get a picture of my own for years. Found on on Flickr though:

How oblivious can one be? Going to admit the exact same thing happened to me, but it took about 2 seconds to find out why the vacuum was not picking anything up. Plus the sound of the motor changes considerably.

Nice little Geiger counter Aaron. In 2010 I performed some experiments with various radioactive samples at a university. I used an application specific, handheld computer to gather data from a sensor which was placed near the sample.
If our highschool chemistry class had included a little nuclear chemistry, there is a fairly good chance that I would have continued on to university and pursued that as a major. Radioactivity is awesome, and ever since I was young I've been fairly fascinated by it. One of the greatest moments of my childhood was taking a tour of the Bruce Nuclear plant. Sadly they don't offer the tour anymore (instead they take you across the street to a reactor mockup) but back then we got to see the whole plant.
That was only 0.1uC of Sr-90. 1uC of Cs-137 will peg the counter at 30,000 CPM of combined beta and gamma (the CDV-700 can't see alpha as it won't penetrate the tube...alpha being the Justin Beiber of radiation...no penetration).

What the hell Aaron! For some reason your site keeps adding that garble into my quote.
The site is in North America, stop sending it Australian electrons. Turn your keyboard upside down to invert the signal and it will be fine. |

That was a good one!!! lol
And forget conventional mainstream education Aaron, you got the brains to do whatever you want and you are young but it looks like you are focused so your success in life IMO is inevitable. I met a guy who grew up in my neighborhood in the 70's who designed a microchip and sold it to some U.S. based firm in the mid 90's and made millions, got to retire in his 30's. Never graduated high school.

Hi buddies!
You guys crack me up. On a side note to that last sentence, I once had someone very confused when I used a similar sentence on them - lives in North America if I remember correctly. He thought I was talking about drugs. I had to explain it to him.
I've seen my fair share of oddly named businesses. From memory, one was called "Phat Kok".
Here's one located in my city:

If you want to watch some Aussie humour, watch Kenny: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ljKxU8EXPOQ I highly recommend it.

Ugh, I just got sniped at the last minute on an eBay auction. That never happens to me, I'm usually the one sniping. My fault for not watching the auction during the last minute. There were all of two bids; mine and the bidder whom sniped me. |

It's winter here. We seem to have infrequent bursts of posts on this forum - enough to keep track of.
I don't think I would like the climate in Canada. The impression I get is that it's mostly a cold place despite what temperature extremes might occur there.

yeah, summer is pretty quick the rest of the time its at least chilly before it gets downright freezing f'n cold. But its a GREAT place to live. I have a buddy who migrated to Australia and he says that aside from some minor cultural and topology differences the two countries are very much similar. |
