I just looked at my WAN connected router's log, and in a random slice of ten seconds it has come up with 110 of these messages:

Monday May 09, 2011 00:39:19 Unrecognized attempt blocked from 92.16.80.84:19956 to xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx UDP:22751

I had a look at three of them and they were comming from Brazil and the USA.

Is this normal?

I have consequently blocked WAN side pings.

Yep, normal. Just background noise, port scans, etc. Don't know that port specifically but probably some exploit trying to get in. Really nothing to worry about.

I have, on any given day, seen logs of thousands of people trying to TelNet to my router, connect to my VPN, etc.
