Hello to all Aaroncake members. I would like to ask for some help on Decade counter(4017) i need to make a circuit to sequentially drive LED. My problem is that the output of the 4017 is only momentary and once the second output is high, the first output will go back to a low state.
Is there a way to make its output high and to keep it high until the whole sequence has finished? i mean when the second output goes high, the first output should also remain high and so on up to the last output and should only goes upon reset.

Thank you very much in advance.

Use a shift register instead of a CD4017.

I have never used a Cmos shift register.
You can look it up the same as I can look it up.
Try a 74C164. It has 8 outputs. A CD4015 has two sets of 4 outputs.

Ken,

You can easily do that with a diode OR'ing matrix on the output of the CD4017.
