Hi Aaron,

I read the rotary compression testing page on your website; afterwards I attempted to send you an email regarding a question I had about what I read. However it didn't seem like taking that approach was a good idea, based on the commentary I read when making that attempt. The recommendation was to post here, so I elected to do that. 'Hope that is an acceptable thing to do; I understand the privacy/stupid people thing.

Anyway, in your description you gave a sample audio clip of an engine that had blown an apex seal. I listened to it and the whooshes sounded fairly regular/consistent. They could be far apart though, ergo one whoosh instead of three. Unfortunately I haven't heard a "blown" engine before, so I found it difficult to compare.

So I was wondering if you could possibly post another small audio clip of a good (non-"blown") engine that folk could also listen to and make a comparison against?

Thanks,

Jerry

I will update the page with a non-blown clip when I have a chance. I'm currently working on a major update to other parts of the site so it may take a while.

I should have made the original recording with spark plugs removed from both rotors but I had only removed them from the blown one. What you are hearing in that clip is one pulse in the time span where you should have been hearing three.
