Hi Everyone,

I am very new to this and am eager to learn. I have always been a tinkerer so I think this is just a natural progression of my desire to understand how things work. I have already built a couple basic projects. I want to eventually build some things without having to think so hard. Can you recommend a good source for learning material,and a good source for bits and pieces. I always buy stuff from radio shack but there has to be a good source that is less expensive. My last question is what software are you all using to draw out your projects.

This site provides a series of free online/pdf textbooks covering electricity and electronics. The information provided is great for both students and hobbyists who are looking to expand their knowledge in this field. These textbooks were written by Tony R. Kuphaldt.

For Schematics and PCB design try Novarm Diptrace. There is a downloadable freeware edition available at http://www.diptrace.com/

The "Enginners Mini-Notebook" series from Forrest Mims is a great place to learn about circuit fragments that are in use to build larger circuits.
