Read and educate.

If at first you do not succeed, try and try again till you can't try no more.

OK, here is tickle charger with level detection circuits. It can be modified to control tracking. I'll dig out code later. Got to jump back on connector hunt. Told client I would have tomorrow.

LED D1 will stay on when battery is low & start flashing slower & slower as it approaches charge. Will go out when charged.

MrGone, what is the device with a sort of rounded front opamp symbol? It's too small to read on my screen.

wow...you're right pebe. I can't even look at it. As soon as I try to zoom in, it's get pixelated.

It's not a symbol I've ever seend for an op-amp.
But if it's a 741 then it's missing a pullup resistor on its non-inverting input.
Also, is the battery shown the battery being charged?

This code should be for above charger circuit. All I have is the hex file but it is marked on schematic to have same name.

Will be changing processor for next version. Want to take advantage of built in A to D circuit to be used in voltage level detector.

Yeah, battery is one being charged. This was actually setup to charge I think, two AA batteries (3 volts). So if you want to charge 12 volts or something, it will need re-work.

Good. We are getting somewhere. Although, I'm sad I cannot help except in testing. I have no experience in any of this, but, I am interested. That is a microcontroller, right? What are the values of Caps 1&2? What is y1?

They are about 33pf and the crystal is like 4 Mhz but not important. Could have been done with R/C clock.

So the op-amp is LM741 and the microcontroller is PIC16F84AS0. I will program it using the provided program by mrgone. I will also try to build the circuit mrgone provided.

You got time to do that? Go ahead if you want but I put that up as a starting block for the tracker. If, I can get some time, here among other things, I will change the processor I think to PIC16f690 so I can use internal ADC. The another V level detector can determine max output from panel. Also need to start with tilt motor control. Whats neat about the '690 ADC is it can take an external voltage independant of the power supply. In other words a much larger voltage. It's a ten bit ADC. This really simplifies design and the changes should be minute.

Well that's good. Did you know that the PIC16F84 is obsolete? They are getting more expensive as time goes on.

No I didn't know that. That tells you something about how old that schematic is. Hey? Do you ever listen to GCN? Tune into network # 2 right now http://www.gcnlive.com/listenlive.htm . You should hear some interesting stuff.
