Howdy, new to this forum.....I have a lead acid battery charger (automotive battery) and it just died. This is a multiple charger. It will charge at 2, 10, 20, 60, amps and Jump Start. I took the charger apart, and here is what I found.

The fan that cools the transformer had died...Replaced the fan !
Off/On switch was sticking....Repaired it !

Now I have 120v going from the off/on switch to the selector switch, and down to the transformer.

From here on I am lost

Can anyone explain to me what the voltage shoud do as far as going through the transformer, and how I can test the diodes ??? ALSO, can anyone direct me to a site that discusses transformers & diodes etc..

Any and all help/discussion would be greatly appreciated.

(Edit...Move to Electronics Repair)

Well to test the diodes you can them out of circuit and test them with a ohm-meter.

It looks like it is half wave rectified, so check the AC voltages coming out of the transformer, DC after the rectifier, and on the primary side of the xformer...

Since you said the fan blew and I can't see a thermal cutout the transformer might be blown...
