hey guys a gas stove igniter, anyone out there that knows about them. i replaced mine about a year ago and all of a sudden it starts igniting with no knobs turned on so i took it out and checked for a bad diode and checked good could this be a bad cap? there are no IC S in this board. i put it back in and now it works but dont trust it.i also checked the knob switches and are ok.
That is really strange that it would do that. I have done work some large 260,000BTU burners for oil processing and they have farily simple circuits in them but I've never seen one turn on without the knob turned on so taht there is gas flow. The way that the circuits are done is so that when you turn the knob on the circut starts to spark then the valve is free to open once it is lit a TC thermo couple is placed in the circuit to keep the main gas valve open. that way if the flame goes out the TC goes dead and that closes the valve. I don't see why it would be completetly an electronic problem when the if the knob is not on the valve should be closed and that means no gas.
I would check the valve for leaks anyway! you usually need a meter though to get it because gas pressure is fairly low if I remember correctly its like 20 "H2O or something close to that. So less then one PSI. I know it is low!
well it cured itself but now when the oven is turned on then the pilot lights it is supposed to stop clicking so as the box supposed to detect the flame but it dont stop ticking.
