I need help. I have a mint 1986 RX-7 with only 145,000 kms. Unfortunately my 13B engine has suddenly lost all it's compression. It happened without any warning. I have been told it is probably the rotary ring seals that have warn out due to age. How difficult is this to fix? Is it easier to get a new rebuilt engine? Please HELP!!

That doesn't sound good. If it happened under normal driving conditions and the car is NOT flooded then it's likely an apex seal (or multiple apex seals) failure.

See this page for confirmation: http://www.aaroncake.net/rx-7/blown.htm

If it's really blown, the only choice is to either rebuild or replace the engine. Due to the damage that can happen when apex seals let go, it is likely that the engine will need at least one new housing and maybe one new rotor to be rebuilt.
