Most fuel senders are a variable resistor connected to the gauge at one end, and ground at the other. The resistance changes based on the fuel level in the tank (a float and a pot...). The other side of the gauge is connected to a reference voltage, usually slightly less then 12V or slightly less then 5V. So measuring at the gauge probably won't tell you anything.
A digital fuel gauge is just a voltmeter which replaces the stock gauge. Not hard to make, even cheaper to buy from any performance shop. |
