i did try to search but i couldnt find exactly wut i was looking for.
on my stratus there are two reflectors under the rear light, i want to place LED's in these. i would like it to light and stay lit until the last light is lit, then repeat,

If you know how to program in C or assemmbler you can program a PIC chip to do that.

That's likely ilegal. If you were in an accident, your insurance could (and probably would) invalidate your claim since you would be running non-DOT approved taillights.
But to answer the question, a microcontroller is likely the easiest thing to use.

Yes, chances are that it is illegal. I wouldn't try it.

ok thanx, i guess ill learn to program n do it that way.
i do know that it is most likely illegal, yet all i hqve to do is add a simple switch and relay sytem to turn on or off the factory blinker style, then if i get in an accident there wouldnt be a problem.

ok i think i may have this figured out, or i have everything entirely messed up.
im thinking of usint the atmel AT90S8515

my question now is about hooking up LED' to this.
can i hook up 8 led's between ports PB0-PB7, 8 between PD0-PD7, 8 between PA0-PA7, and 8between PC0-PC7. and then program each led to have it's own turn on/off time, to get them to flash like in the picture?

You can use a lot fewer I/O pins if you multiplex.

| Why do you need to drive that many? Maybe if you have 4 on each side, you could just have it set up with some relays to drive the right front and back, and another 4 to drive the left front and back. You could even have your microcontroller respond to your factory default blinker, and start counting up/down when it is on. |
