Does anybody here know the pin assisgnments for a standard CD changer cable on the head unit end? To compliment this question, does anybody know whether changers send audio data in analog or digital?

The reason I ask is because I want to use an iPod in my vehicle but don't want to spend the money on a new head unit and/or adapter device from Alpine or the like. The Eclipse deck I already have has CD changer port but no AUX inputs. I figure, if I get the pin assignments for a CD changer, and changers send analog audio signals, I can just hack apart a CD changer cable and make the appropriate connections to a 3.5mm jack and plug the iPod directly into the changer port.

Any thoughts or ideas on this?

I searched around but it appears vehicle specific. A Google search for your vehicle and "cd changer pinout" or "head unit pinout" will probably find it.
