Hello folks...

I want to use a relay normaly open for cutting off the current for the coil, so the car can't be stolen..., And even use an anti-hijack circuit to suddenly cut-off the current and the engine stops and don't start again...

There "could" be the risk of relay's failure...?

Do you think is safe to use a relay this way...?

What other ideas can I use...?

Thanks in Advance...

I wouldn't worry about it too much. Yes, there's a risk in relay failure, but you can always jumper around it if you get stuck somewhere. ALL modern cars after '86 in North America come with a cut relay already anyway, and they don't fail very often. Get a high quality relay, rated at 4x or more the current you need, and you'll never have to worry.
