Hi, I recently recieved my power folding mirrors, and they came with an electronic module....
One one side of the module you have a blue and a yellow wire coming in from the fold/unfold switch (+12v and earth....polarity changed for fold/unfold)....and another blue and a yellow wire coming out to the wiring plug, which then goes on to the mirror motors...
On the other side there is a red fused wire (permanant live I presume), a black wire (earth I presume) and a yellow wire (???)
Below are some pics of the circuit, the pick of the back of the board is fliped so that it corresponds to the top view...
I can see from the 556 chip it is a timing circuit of sorts, I am guessing that the input from the switch triggers the timing circuit so that power is only applied to the motors for a set time.
but what does the input from the yellow wire do ??

No, the mirror adjustment doesn't use this at all, this is just for the folding action.
I'm thinking it may be a switched live, so that they auto unfold/fold when the ignition is switched on/off ???

The yellow wire seems to go to a voltage divider network, where it connects to the LM339 (quad comparator) pin, and then through a wire link to the end of D5. After that, it follows another wire link into the big relay, and also to D4, and to what looks like another 9V relay.
Of course, it's hard to tell just from the pictures. :)
I'd guess that it's a "switched power" where the red and black will be battery power.

Stupid question, but considered getting the instructions?

It's second hand from Japan......
I've had a play and it works with or without the yellow wire connected, and connecting/disconnecting it does nothing to the mirrors...
I think I'll have to go back to the original plan and build a couple of 555 circuits triggered by the central locking ith a c/o relay... And possibly one for the windows...
I have an updated circuit idea, but I'll ask about that in the original thread...

ok, this is purely from what I know about taxi meters and Mercedes cars, so it may be off the mark, but it makes sense.
Black = Negative earth as you thought Red = Positive Supply (always on, eg battery) Yellow = Positive supply ONLY when ignition is on.
Considering you have the timer chip in the circuit, I would say it makes it work like the Merc / BMW ones - after the ignition has been off (and in some cars the central locking set) the mirrors retract automatically after about 30 seconds.
I might be wrong, but you never know!
Cheers! (",)
