hey! its finally running again after a little battle with an exhaust leak. with a ported wastegate its running solid 5 psi (on autometer gauge) in 1st-3rd and creeping up to 8psi in 4th gear. I wanted to get a boost controller and get each gear to run the same amount of boost before sending it for dyno tuning and was wondering what would be a good psi to set it for? I was hoping 9 or 10 but not sure if that would be too excessive.

A boost controller will only raise boost past the natural amount allowed by the wastegate, it cannot lower it.

That said, the lowest you can set it is 8 PSI. Assuming you have fuel for more, go ahead if you really want to. But timing becomes an issue at 9-10...

ahh yeah, thats what I was thinking (8psi min). Will timing be a huge issue or will I be able to cope? Also I havent had a chance to hit top of 5th gear yet, but with your previous setup, did you have boost creep in 4th, if so how did it compare to the boost creep in 5th? Thanks!

It's best to have timing control at aroung 8PSI, but honestly, the stock TII ECU only retards a few degrees at that point, so you could manually move the CAS back a little if you wanted.

As for creep, I didn't have any problems. My wastegate is MASSIVLY ported, quite a bit larger then the valve itself.

one more thing lol, sorry to be such a bother! Did you have to retard your timing when you had your setup running? I remember you saying it was running at around 10 psi?

I left my timing stock, but I don't recommend that. Just nudging the CAS back a few degrees will probably be sufficient for around 8PSI.

Got a quick question on the topic of timing, would there be too much of a problem using the stock TII ECU and setting the CAS back a bit and not run into injector timing problems? I wanna run 10PSI with little worries on the side of timing any advice?

I'm fairly sure the stock injection system is a continuous system. So setting the CAS back should not effect the injectors at all.

If you are using the TII ECU, it already has a boost retard function built in (sort of...).

I think instead of going through udating and modding the stock TII ECU and adding RTEK and stuff would be a waste of money compared to MegaSqurit "Standalone" (no ignition control" but this will allow me to use a 12A distribuitor if i like hopefully this will help with tunining and will be a cheap safe choice

Or, the Microtech LT8. More expensive, but offers both ignition and fuel control, along with data logging and all kinds of cool stuff...
