I had to make a major DNS change last night, and it will take about 72 hours to fully propegate accross the Internet. Therefore, there will be a number of areas that will not be able to see the site until their DNS servers refresh. Sorry about this, but it had to be done.

That's OK. When I found I couldn't get on the site, I just put on Iron Butterfly's Ina Gadda Da Vida. By the time it was done playing, you were back online!

I was wondering, wouldn't we still be able to reach your site by typing in your IP address directly, and therefore not even using a DNS server? Or is it dynamic? Would the forums support it?

The reason I had to make the DNS change was beacuse my IP was changed. Yes, you could have just used the new IP, but since it was not yet updated in the DNS, you would have no way of knowing what it was....Luckily, my IP only changes every 1.5 years or so....
