Started saving for a car. Looking for a 260z or might get an RX-7 if one in good shape is available.

Around here it is about the opposite with Z cars And Mazdas. Either high price or not running and rust.

Well I don't care, he took my junk and paid me for it. I'm happy.

$2 worth of platinum, or thereabouts.

For the metals inside the cat. The rest was either part out or scrap.

That's funny. Here (and I assume in most of the US) it is actually illegal to install a used cat. And he'd never make the $360 back by recycling them.

Well anything is better than my current car (71' Suburban). The thing is made of rust except for all the mounts or any part of the drivetrain because that was all either rebuilt or replaced. It feels like it's gonna fall apart when I drive it or turn up the radio. I do like the 350, just not the gas mileage.

I finally sold both my Corolla and Camry to some guy for $360. I figured that was probably the most I would ever get for them. He said he wanted the Catalytic converters and the rest to scrap.

You're going to have a very hard time finding a 2(anything)0Z that isn't rust at this point. The few that are left are going for some serious money. I remember looking back when I was 19 for a 240, 260 or even a 300ZX and not a single one (of the 10 or so I looked at for under $10,000) was solid. RX-7s are far more rust resistant. Not only because they are newer then the 240/260/280, but because Mazda at least used some rust protection.
