Posted - Jul 10 2006 : 6:47:05 PM My family and i are going on vacation next week. We are going to Northern Minnesota. We would like to cross over into Canada for a few hours or so, basically so we can just say we have been there(i have never been in another country). What do we need to cross the boarder? Passport?

Posted - Jul 14 2006 : 09:43:59 AM I wouldn't worry about being searched...There's not a lot suspicious about a family on vacation. But I guess I'm suspicious with the long black hair, black clothes, hybrid, homemade MP3 player, etc.

Posted - Jul 11 2006 : 11:52:53 AM If that was the case, then we wouldn't go. Crap, its gonna take a long time to do that search! We are taking our Class C camper! Oh well, i say it will be worth it in the end. I have never seen Canada. I flew over it once when we went to Alaska, but never set-foot on it. Oh, nevermind, i just got off the phone with one of my parrents. I guess we are going to rent a car up there. Ok, Thanks!!!

Posted - Jul 11 2006 : 09:20:33 AM At the moment, you don't need a passport. You will be asked to produce proof of identity (birth certificate) and if your border crossings are anything like mine your vehicle will be searched (happens to me every freaking time...).
The US government is trying to make all Canadians produce a passport to cross into the US, but this is meeting with some restriction. If that law passes, I say we should make all Americans submit to a body cavity search...
