Seriously, I know very few girls that are legitimately interested in the technical stuff. None that seem to show any interest in electronics (which at this point in my life is fine), and only a few that are interested in computers in my age group (around 25). I do know many computer consultants and specialists that are women, but none seem interested in computers as a general and all-encompasing way.
As for mechanical stuff (cars, fab, welding, etc.) then I have only ever met a handful. Some of which I immediately took as friends. Those girl friends are not "hard core" as I and many of my male friends are, but they aren't afraid to learn and get their hands dirty. There are apparently quite a few chick-welders out there, but I have unfortunately never met any of them.
